Our commercials when output in Avid Meridian Compressed look fine, but to send them to other stations, they prefer them to be rendered with the h264 codec.

Doing that, or mpg4, appears to raise the overall Gamma about 15%, washing out the chroma, diluting the blacks and making bright lumminance, too bright.

Anyone know a fix for this?

We’re using Avid 2.7 and Quicktime 7, but don’t have QT Pro. If we render in h264, we can’t even look at the file in QT (Buffer overwrite error).

Use an encoding application like Squeeze. The more recent versions of it feature the Main Concept H264 encoder, which much less suffers from the infamous Apple H264 codec.

Are you talking Sorensen Squeeze. We have vers 4, but use it primarily to squeeze spots down for email demo versions.

    Thanks,
