H264 to SD-DVD generational loss
Hi all,
So yesterday I was presented with a 1280×720 H264 file which I was asked to convert to a standard def DVD. The video looks clean without any noticeable artifacts. I created the DVD and the picture looks fine other than the usual SD downconversion mpeg2 issues – pixilation in the red channels, pixilation around some of my text, reduced resolution, etc…
My question is, if I had pushed harder to get a proRes 1920×1080 file and use that to create a DVD instead of my H264, would the gain in quality have been at all noticeable?
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Best,
George T.
