I am working on a corporate piece which was shot as 1080i60 HDV. I am working in FCP studio 2 and the project is done! I made him a tape, and 2 SD dvds, but my client would also like a nicer quality quicktime file that he came just share around the office. I have tried a bunch of tests using H.264 and apple pro-res, uncompressed. I cannot seem to find a codec in compressor (or FCP) that will give me a file size under 2 gigs and play out clean on his end. Every H.264 and HDV native codec copy I send him does not work. He says he is working with a mac and has QT 7.5, so why is he getting the white screen and just audio when he tries to playback?
Am I just using the wrong codecs, if so what should i be using. It does not have to look uncompressed, but native frame size and the least amount of pixilation is important.
    thank you,
    Adam

    Adam,

have you tried exporting a self contained file from FCP, dropping that into Compressor and selecting the AppleTV preset? I have had decent results with that. For most, h.264 encoding that I do I use the Elgato Turbo.264 encoder. I find that it is better than Compressor.

Remember that most computer monitor will not be able to play back something at that high resolution. I think that you are better off sacrificing a little resolution for better play back.
