    Hello,

I exported a H.264 according to Vimeo’s guidelines ( https://vimeo.com/help/faq/uploading-to-vimeo/compression-tutorials#adobe-premiere-pro-cc-721 ) for Premiere Pro CC. I’m a bit dissapointed in the quality of the export – contrast is down, midtones are brighter, a noticeable loss of detail and added noise. I’m coming from 10 Bit DPX and understand there is a big difference, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers in regards to exporting via Premiere. This is the first project I’ve cut with it.

Should I use Media Encoder instead or is that essentially the same? Any pointers much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Did you use a Vimeo preset or put together your own encoding profile? Under “H.264”, look at Presets and scroll all the way to the bottom of the list and there are specific Vimeo presets.

Did you perhaps start with a QuickTime wrapper for the H.264? Avoid that and go straight with H.264.

    Thanks

    Hi Randy,

I am not an expert, but I do regularly cut my projects in Premiere for 1080p playback on Youtube.

The settings I aim for are:
    Format: H.264
    Width: 1,920
    Height: 1,080
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Field Order: Progressive
    Aspect: Square Pixels (1.0)
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Profile: Main
    Level: 5.1
Bitrate: VBR 2 Pass with a target of 24Mbps and max of 25mbps

I usually use Media Encoder so that Premiere is not tied up exporting.

Hope that helps! I’m open to suggestions, too.

    Cheers,

    -Daniel
