    Hi there,

I’m working on a project in which all the video was shot on a Canon 5d Mark 2. So I was given a drive with lots of 1920×1080 H.264 clips.

I brought all the files onto my computer and started the project. At first, I made the sequences match the clip settings. However, there was a lot of stuttering on playback which made editing impossible. So I changed the sequences to ProRes and just dealt with rendering.

Now, the project is crashing all the time! If I try to open clips in the viewer, open various sequences, etc. final cut crashes. I’m guessing it has something to do with the H.264 format. I’d love to go back and convert all the clips to ProRes but I don’t think that’s an option. There are close to 300 clips and I’m already well into the project.

Any idea why FC is crashing all the time? It seems to be getting worse and worse. At first, a couple times a day. Now literally almost any time I try to open a clip.

Computer speed shouldn’t be an issue. I’ve got an 8-core, 10GB, 2.66 ghz.

    Thanks for your help!!!
