Audio needs to be set to PCM 48k 16 or 24 bit.

Are you using Canon footage? Why not download the log and transfer plugin?

    Convert your audio to AIFF.

    Convert your audio to AIFF.

which within the compressor dialogue translates to ‘Linear PCM’.

Got it. Then change the audio settings in compressor to what was mentioned before.

Linear PCM, 48k 16 or 24 bit stereo.

issue seems to be related to the sequence I am tring to put shot into:
    seq 1 is DVCPro 720p 60 audio: 48 16b
    seq 2 is Prores audio: 48 16b

audio setting are the same yet in seq 1 I get red line for audio and seq 2 all is good is this correct?

[d hudson] “audio setting are the same yet in seq 1 I get red line for audio and seq 2 all is good is this correct? “

Are you sure the audio is the red render line? Are you making your own timelines or letting FCP conform to your footage?

Look in the browser and scroll to the right to double check your audio format of your footage that you made out of COmpressor.

If I use the H264 converted footage first and let FCP seq match footage no red line. If I use the P2 footage first and let FCP seq match that the H264 converted footage gets a red line. Now, When I look in browser both clips have the same audio settings ( that I can tell) Aud Rate: 48 K bit rate: 16-bit integer.

ALright DHudson, I think you aren’t quite setting things up properly, but we can help you.

Tell me all the formats that you have in your project, and what timeline you are planning to edit in (frame size, codec, frame rate, etc).
