H 264 / HDV
Just edited and layed back my first HDV edit from FCP 5 back to my Z1 and was a bit frustrated by all the agro
I read somewhere that you can create a sequence and digitise edit and lay back using H 264 in FCP – Is this true and does it work the same way the normal DV used to. I’ve got a deck link card (HD) but cant afford to keep Hiring HD Decks as this is a pitch reel.

H.264 is a web compression, and possibly an HD DVD compression, codec. YOucannot lay back to HDV tape in that format. YOu can only lay back to HDV as HDv…like you can only layback to DV as Dv, not MPEG-4.
