    Hello,

I have basic knowledge of After Effects. I want to produce an animated logo and I’m a bit stuck. I have ideas of how to produce it but I’m confused on the best way.

I need to create a light source which comes on to the screen (blue and white) which has a trail of light behind it (like the effect you get from waving a sparkler). It comes on the screen and circles around a few times in an oval shape with more trails appearing. Then the logo appears in the center of the oval trail.

Any ideas? I’ve been pondering on glow, bezier curves, cc light burst etc.. Please help! Thanks in advance. 🙂

you’ll want to use particle systems for this effect… not exactly a beginners thing, but you’ll learn a lot.

here’s a tutorial that shows you how to create a tnt (turner-network-tv, not an explosive) like effect where particle are used to reveal a circle:

he uses an effect called trapcode particular (download the demo here), but you could do much the same thing with cc particle world (bundled with ae). for tips on using that effect (particularly mapping it’s coordinate system to the ae’s coordinate system) you might want to check out this other tutorial:
