    H-lo,
it´s me back here. After considering buying a card from the trusted Macvidcards I decided to give a regular PC-card (MSI NGTX 470 Twin Frozr II) a shot. This wasn´t only about price, as I totally respect the work of David, but also availability in Germany and the fancy quiet cooling system of the card.

The card now runs (no boot screens) on 10.7.3 with the CUDA and graphics drivers off nVidia´s site. It´s even recognized in Premiere Pro without any modifications. I had the feeling it doesn´t add computing power here, tho.

Although the Frozy Bastard is running stable now for some hours of internet and typing, it frequently freezes my machine when it has to work. Supposedly when it´s switching between P-States. I can provoke crashes with software like CUDA-Z, Novabench, or resolve.

Question is: Are these issues related to having a non-flashed card?

I invested quite many hours of research but without delving into the Hackintosh scene, I don´t arrive at a solution. I read much about problems with the GTX cards, “fermi freezes” and the relation to P-States. Unfortunately, my MacPro3,1 doesn´t even use AppleGpuPowermanagement, so I can´t modify.

In Macvidcards´ forum I read one guy has (visually and functionally) similar experience, obviously with a flashed card. So if I ordered such a card, could I be sure it would work fine in my setup? I also have a ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT as helper card and a Decklink Studio HD-SDI card in my MP. Crashes also with Decklink uninstalled btw.

    Cheers,
    K
