  • Ground collapse creating hole, best way to achieve this?

    hi all,

I’m currently trying to make the ground look like it’s cracking. Then the cracks in the ground begin to fall into the planet leaving a black hole.

I’m looking for ideas on how to make the land begin to collapse in on itself. (looking to avoid 3d programs, trying to keep this simple)
Currently I’m using the shatter effect. Which I think would work, especially with the shatter effect plugin camera controls, this way I can get a good angle of the shatter effect appearing to fall into the core of the planet. (not trying to show lava or the pieces falling to the core of the planet, just giving a visual for clarity)

Any other suggestions that could be better?

You could combine that with Free Form or FreeForm Pro – you can create an animated 3d displacement map that can show the ground cracking and caving in.
