According to the PowerMate web site:

You can quickly and easily program it to execute any Key Command, in any application.

That pretty much answers your question, YES. It probably looks like a keyboard to your computer so any software that recognizes a keyboard will recognize it. I’ve never used one but I do own a Contour Design Shuttle Pro 2 and this is how it works.

I would seriously check out the Contour Design’s Shuttle Express before buying the Powermate Jog Shuttle. It looks like it has a lot more functionality (e.g., spring loaded outer wheel with inner frame accurate precision wheel, plus 5 function buttons) for the same price and Vegas Pro has .prefs files for it. Movie Studio may also. Personally, I would get the Shuttle Express.

Thanks Mr. Rofrano, I do own both the Contour Shutttle V2, and the powermate.

I just thought it would be a nice companion to my laptop’s VS 13.

I tried, unsuccessfuly, to program the powermate, with the “key send” function of the device editor.

Hence the reason for this post.

I’d appreciate anybody’s input.
