green screen artifacts
I am having some trouble with artifacts in my subjects on my green screen footage. I had a little trouble shooting as I couldn’t get my 4 ft kino to work and light up the backdrop. I used two 2 foot kinos at 45 degree angles to light the subject and the backdrop. I kept the subjects as far as possible from the screen and the cameras as fat as possible from the subjects. The screen keyed out ok, but in some of my compsites, not all, I have some artifacts in the subjects. Unfortunately I don’t have a site to post the clips.
I was shooting with 2 two ft kinos, combination of warm and cool, Sony HVR A1Us on minitape, and editing with CS5 Premier. THere are more artifacts on my home system than on my work system. Is this a memory problem? Is there something I can do in After Effects? My clips have a color key, a chroma key, and an ultrakey and it is all working except for the artifacts inside the subjects. Not even on the edges

You should look up some tutorials here on the cow and YouTube and the net on green screen work, as you’ve discovered, lighting is very important. You can apply several keys at a time, but you can tweak the settings you’ll learn from the tutorials. AE has. A good keyer.

If you can post a still here, that would help. From your description, my guess is you are over-correcting spill, and that is producing artifacts (do they look grey or pink?) in your subject.
The warm + cool mix of light sources is probably not helping either.-Jeff
