    Grayed out HDV Choices

    I just got an HD tv for external monitoring but my viewing choices are grayed out. I am hooked up to a JVC HDV 720p deck through FW then hooked to the monitor through HDMI cable.
    Will this work in this configuration or will I have to make some adjustments?

    which version of fcp are you on?

    initially you could not preview HDV over firewire, but I think you
    could after 6.x

    have you tried a DV preview? that should work, but I’m not sure
    it passes through HDMI for monitoring, maybe only the component
    or composite and s-video outs.
