I create home movies using Vegas, After Effects and Photoshop. I only use one monitor and do not usually create 3D, only special effects for the videos. Do I need a graphics card? Would it help me in any way? If so, what graphics card do you recommend?

In a nutshell, no. If you want to run dual monitors, then you’ll need a dual head card. If these are HD res (eg. 1920 x 1080), then you’d have to make sure the card would support them. Otherwise, for Vegas, a high end video card is low on the priority list.
