I tried searching for this but didn’t find anything relevant so forgive me if I missed a post.

I am using Vegas Pro 8.0c. I made a graphic in Photoshop and saved it as a psd then saved another copy as a png. I then went into Vegas to drop it into the timeline and in preview it shows up as a black screen. On the timeline it shows up red, like the media is offline (but it doesn’t say “media offline”). I can see the files in the explorer, and I can drop in other files from the same folder without any issue. I tried resizing the graphic since it’s quite large (planning on panning around the image) and the same thing. I tried flattening the layers first and then saving, no change. I tried a jpg, same thing! Augh! I’m so frustrated! Is there a maximum size for pics in Vegas? I’m sure I’ve used bigger ones than this in the past!

If anyone has any idea, I’d love to hear them!

Thank you for all your knowledge!

Try this. Close out of every instance of Vegas. Resave the file to a png and try to keep it under 3 megs. This should give you plenty of room to really zoom in on the picture and move to your hearts content.

Be sure to save the file with a different name and then open Vegas and drop it in your project. The red frame should go away.

    Let us know.

Yeah I finally just started playing with the size of the file when I realized my resolution was larger than I intended. Can’t believe I didn’t see that before!

Anyway thank you for the quick response, everything seems to be working now. I’m currently rendering an mpeg to see how the graphic looks on a tv before I do any more work on it.

    Thanks again and happy editing!

reduce interlace flicker (right-click, switches event) and render to best helps a lot with still images’ final quality…..

    good luck
