Grainy / Noisy Area Shadows
How can I make my shadows more clean and soft, especially when zoomed in close on an object? Often when I zoom in close on one of my renders the shadows are fuzzy and grainy. Here is an extreme example of my problem. https://f1.creativecow.net/9614/grainy-shadow-example?uploaded=file

which renderer? – if you are using Standard it’s in the Shadow tab of the light with the area shadows, Min/Max/Accuracy – if it’s Physical then it’s in Render Settings/Physical/Basic/Shadow Subdivision (Max)
