Hi guys, I have created some line art for a custom illustration using AI CS6. I’d like to apply some shading using gradients within Illustrator. Was wondering how I can achieve a similar effect to the attached image (which I crudely shaded up in Photoshop just to give the idea of what I’m going for). When I try using the gradient panel in Illustrator, all I see is ‘linear’ and ‘radial’, neither of which achieves the effect below. Please note that the shapes I will be shading are not strokes, they are just shapes created using the pen tool, with a fill color applied. Reason I mention is bc I realize there are some different gradient options for stroke paths, however that’s not what I’m using here. Thanks in advance.

Effect > Stylize > Drop Shadow
    or
Effect > Stylize > Outer Glow

These are probably the easiest options.
For either of these, you might need to also mask the object and effect to clip the areas of casted shadow that you don’t want to appear.
