  • Grade to clip effecting other clips

OK…I am kind of new to Resolve, but I have played around with it and have not run across this before:

I began with a sequence in AVID. This media was given to me as one whole QT movie that I cut at the “cuts”, its a 5 minute short, so don’t feel too bad for me.

I then export the AAF and conformed into Resolve.

Now when I grade a particular clip it automatically effects the other clips. I don’t want it to do that. I am assuming this is because the source clip is one large movie.

Is there any way around this?

I have tried grouping clips, into a new group, but this doesn’t stop EVERY clip from being effected.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Thanks, I am actually a big fan, and member, of the Tao of Color, and just have not had time to dive into the Davinci tutorials yet….can’t wait!

Your question is the number one head scratcher that causes everyone a problem once!!
I can not understand why resolve does not unlink clips by default. I think it’s a legacy thing. Let’s hope v9 toggles the default setting .

The Tao of color is a great philosophical starting point, but please, go and read the Resolve manual at least.
there is a lot of great information in it…

Patrick is preparing an interface tutorial, if I’m not mistaken, on the new version revealed at NAB.

But you are right, the guide is well worth reading. I’ll make a point of it.
