Perhaps this will all just come down to the fact that I’m running with a GT 650M, but now that they’re forcing GPU Acceleration on 360 projects with the release of CC2018 I thought I’d do some tests.

These are all the same scene.
    CC2017
    Software only – 13:45
    openCL – 21:42
    CC2018
    openCL – 24:23
    Metal – 25:20

    ouch

I have the latest CUDA drivers, maybe if I upgrade to High Sierra Metal 2 will improve it somewhat (forcing myself to not be cynical now).

Can anyone think of anything else that could be wrong? Or is this just what acceleration is for my poor little GPU?

MacBook Pro (early 2013) Sierra 10.12.6
    2.7 i7
    16GB RAM
    GT 650M

it is interesting that OpenCL performance dropped with the new version of ae…

it’s my understanding that apple writes the drivers of the OEM GPUs, and those may get updated with OS updates, so it is possible that high sierra could help, but i wouldn’t hold my breath.

my guess would be that adobe will have some updates that may improve performance with more GPUs.
