  • Good simulation (or high quality scan) closeup of notebook paper?

I have it in mind to do a horizontally scrolling closeup of notebook paper, which starts off rather fast and gradually, after maybe 10 seconds, slows down and scales back a bit (ultimately revealing something “drawn” on it, but that’s for later). Right now my plan is to try to either simulate or acquire an extremely detailed photo of a sheet of paper – one which is capable of revealing the uneven nature of its surface, so that the fact that it’s scrolling can be easily discerned. I’ll simulate the classic notebook paper blue lines with a deliberately artificial flavor, because in this case I’d rather they looked added-in as opposed to part of the paper itself.

Right now, I’m thinking.. start with a plain off-white sheet, find some sort of appropriate pattern and use the glassy effect on it to some degree, to achieve the uneven look. But I can’t seem to find a good pattern, or achieve good results in any event. An idealized closeup photo of paper could potentially be the best solution, but I certainly can’t seem to find such a convenient specimen.

Just seeing if anyone had any ideas.

‘Video Copilot’s’ Riot Gear DVD collection includes many paper textures which could work very well for your case.

    Go to https://www.videocopilot.net/riotgear.html

    hope this helps,

Why can’t you just scan a piece of paper?

I had exactly the same job a couple of weeks ago. I scanned an old envelope, overlaid a solid with fractal noise and played with the blending. Use the Grid effect for the lines then Pre-Compose.
