Hi there. I was a member of the Cow long ago with //Fast and Newtek. Now I work with a ton of BM hardware and edit on Resolve. Not sure yet if I like Resolve, but I’m still smilin’. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Looking forward to learning more. Oh, and a hat tip to @! Thx for your help!

I’ve never tried Resolve. How good or bad is it?

Well, it works – that’s most important. It does a lot of things really well – color tweaking, for example, and a lot of things rather clumsily IMHO.

I personally don’t like the “edit” or “cut” interfaces, or how BlackMagic’s version of the timeline works. I don’t like how transitions, titles, and effects are used, but I really like having Fusion as a part of the package. There’s also some powerful audio editing capabilities, and really versatile media control. “Smart” bins, for example.

A quirk that annoys me a lot is that the interface is *only* dark charcoal grey. I would like to be able to set it to what I like, say 18% grey. But that’s me.

Oh, and you can use it for free, too. We use the full “studio” version because we own a bunch BM stuff and licenses for Resolve studio come with some of the gear. But to get access to all those tools – even feature reduced – for free? You can’t beat that. Oh, and don’t forget the FREE manufacturer-produced tutorials.

Hope that answers your question. Download it. Try it. Then tell me if you like it. 😉

    Dan
