I seen a couple of jungle or bush movies where you see gnats, flies perhaps moths flying around the sceen. I realize it was most likely shot that way… BUT…what if you were trying to add that type of thing to a pre-existing shot?

AE do this? If so, how?

Not a complete walkthrough, but it’ll give you a good start – if you’re an advanced AE user…

But any particle system should give you the tools you need.

I did a sample video recently where I made flies flying very fast in the atmosphere and it looked really realistic.

What I just did was just creating a 3D bug in Zaxwerks, animated its wings, precomped the video of the flying bug with an alpha. I could of done the animation of the bug flying around with Zaxwerks and to feel more confortable, just add a null (controler) to my 3D object to make the flying movements of my bug more realistic but I thought it was much easier to simply precomp my flying bug without mouvement keyframes (from itself).

What I did is that I just keyframed the mouvements, with big circle movements, and then changed, in the Keyframe Assistant, the keyframes to Easy In or Easy Out. Checked the motion blur, and that was about it!

So easy and so realistic, that’s what I call productive 🙂

    Hope that helped.

Thanks to both of you! I’m not very hot with expressions so I think I’ll try Justin’s idea first.

    Thanks again,

Like to see the project file, if you don’t mind.
