    hi all cowsters….
i’m about to put together a video promo that involves creating an inky world
i’ve seen the new gnarls barkley video by blind and love the inky effect they have put together…
    see it here https://tinyurl.com/py7ru
can anyone give me an idea how they might have done this… would this be a particle effect or would they have shot ink and used a series of masks…
they have quite a lot of control over the shapes so i guess it could be particles… anyway any ideas would be much appreciated!
    thanks in advance

From what I can tell, it’s a combination of ink splatter footage and processed video / masks, carefully blended together.

My money is on it being majority actual footage that was shot. Then masks, smear effects and a lot of painstaking compositing.
