[GL2] Canon battery packs vs. third-party brands?

Hi bml,

I use a BP-945 (genuine Canon) and also 2 generic branded batteries. They are marked as BP-941 (ass in China, made in Japan) and are 5500mAh which is larger than the BP-945. I have had no problems whatsoever with them.

What’s the price difference between the BP-945 and the BP-941 battery?

Pretty substantial difference… the BP-941 is about $50, and the official BP-945 is $100+.

Mine cost A$100 which is about US$74. Probably cheaper in the states I’d say.

here in Denver FilmVideo stocks dozens of batteries for rental units. They are also a canon&sony service center and make their own (excellent) battery belts. Their techs insist that the no-name brands don’t meet oem specs and the canon & sony are better value over the long haul. My own(more limited) experience supports that view.
