In a precomp, part of a larger After Effects project, an image from a layer in a different precomp shows up.

If I hide all layers this phantom image is still there. There are no shy layers or guide layers. And it’s only in Quarter resolution. The image disappears in Third, Half, or Full resolution.

When I open the precomp as its own composition in AE, the image doesn’t show up – the composition looks normal, as it should. And this same ghost image shows up in other precomps in this project. Any ideas what’s causing it?

    Mac OS 10.15.6
    27″ iMac
    AE 17.0.2 (Build 26)

Jeez, thanks, that did it. Because of the weirdness of the problem (image not even in composition, but showing up even when all layers are hidden) I was looking for a Hugely Complex solution. Still wonder what exactly happened.

    Thanks again.
