No, I wish, but I only have regular lenses. I do shoot 10 bit, however. The 400mbps ALL-I update doesn’t come out until the end of September. I’ll look for a low light still and get it to you shortly. Oh, btw, the latest raised blacks LUT is perfect! Both indoor and out door.

EDIT: Here’s the still. Oddly enough when I went to apply the latest indoor LUT, Premiere Pro crashed, but I have a feeling it was just time, not caused by the LUT. I’ll continue testing.

here’s the low light test. I tweaked the highlights so details can path through and changed blue/green hue in shadows. skin looks same. after this, you would need to run neatvideo to remove grain. but it would be a good intermediate for denoising.

Thanks, Chris, but aren’t we at the point now where your LUTs will only work in certain situations? I’ve placed LUTs that made Grandma’s home movies look like Ben Hur, on to my clips, and they turn into mush. I’ll try this new one on some other clips as a test. I will admit your other LUTs in this thread seem to be working across the board.

i get your point, but I did notice that underexposed footage has some unique characteristics like:

1. strange highlights with colorful detail mixed in
2. bluer/more saturated shadows
3. compressed midtones

this may not work for all kinds of low light stuff, but my suspicion is that it will get you there faster, especially if you have the original editable xmp!

I have no idea what to do with the xmp’s. Anyway, I tried it on a fairly well lit clip by mistake and it came out horrible, however your gh5 neutral really looked nice. My sound bar was acting up so I’ve been messing with that most of the morning. I’ll get to applying it to an actual underlit scene and, as usual, report back.

how to edit xmp files:

you can make your own look that is very high quality for free!

lut creation instructions:
grade inside photoshop convert video to smart object or just grade one png frame, and open as adobe camera raw, then save preset as .xmp. then you download

after generating its lut table, take that png into photoshop, apply your .xmp preset in adobe camera raw and save-as a new filename.
then open iwltap lut creator(click its question box to select 64 cube) and select the new filename. it will create a brand new 64 cube lut.

By making more movies do you mean my green screen comedies? If so, yeah, I’ve made 3 since we moved to my new place. I’m currently dry on ideas right now. If I could I’d make 2 or 3 every week, but I make up the dialog and situations as I shoot. It gets hard after a while. But I love doing it, I’d love even more to be able to get out and shoot some really nice footage.

Anyway, here’s the latest 3. If you’ve ever watched The Haunted Collector you’ll get a kick out of them. If not, they won’t make much sense.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before. Here is a video with a “look” that I always am striving for. I can never get that skin tone. I don’t know if he’s wearing makeup or what, by my face is always 4 different skin tones with glare on top.

I’d like you to either:
1. Create a LUT that can get close to this look. OR…
2. Tell me why it needs more than a LUT to accomplish this and what I need to do. I just shot some footage in these same conditions and it just looks like crap even after color correcting and grading.

If you could do that I can finally die 😉

i need a png that has grass, sky and a close face in focus to do a reference shot. at first glance, it looks like they moved the orange, red and green hues around. also, possibly, the white balance is offset a smidge. the other 50% is that in that place, you can’t make bad photos, the lighting is diffused, colorful, and well, that’s why people go traveling abroad and all consumer camera companies go to iceland and such places 🙂
