    Ok.

My GH4 is stuck on the V.1.1 firmware and I have tired everything to get the camera to update to V2.0 without success.

    Tired
3 different batteries charged to max
    4 different SD cards
    card in before boot
    card in after boot
    reset camera to factory settings
    tried it all again.

    any ideas?

Download the firmware to your desktop and then extract the zip file to the desktop.

Open the extracted file and double click the application. A run prompt appears.

Click run and a .bin file will load and appear above the application file.

Open the connected camera drive from my computer in a separate window.

Then drag the .bin file into the root file.

Remove the camera from the computer. Leave the card in the camera and power it off.

Turn the camera on and press the playback button at your left thumb. Press the yes prompt on screen and let it load.

    Mike.

I can read the directions, Not working on My GH4.

I am looking for alternatives ( forced boot cmds, a service override that can force the update)

I had the same problem. To be sure the directions on running the application are unclear on the instruction page. They say nothing of extracting the zip and running the application within it before moving the file to the camera so it can update. That was the difference to end my frustration. You might have other issues. I was only pointing out what I needed to do in the attempt to help.

[Mike Hinkel] “I had the same problem.”

    Yeah,

    Translations always lack something.

going to try using Windows for DL and transfer, sometimes that can work.

    Hey Gary,

As I recall, I needed to go to a PC to do the upgrade. Couldn’t do it on the Mac.

    Good Luck,
    Jim

I had much the same experience. I followed download and prep to the letter and made at least a dozen attempts to load the upgrade with zero success.

I searched the internet for hints but came up with nothing that worked.

Finally I replaced the Class 10 SDHC card I was using and resorted to the high speed 280 Mbs card I had available. That worked.

In fact it worked for both lens updates as well. I have no idea if this a definitive solution, all I can say is that it worked for me.
