  Gh4 User… can’t get auto-focus right in a simple grey screen shot.

  Hey guys,

  So i’m struggling with the auto focus on my GH4 camera… I’m basically doing a grey screen shot where I hit the record button, walk 6 feet away in front of a grey screen, and stand there and talk… with occasional movement, nothing crazy, but enough movement to necessitate some form of autofocus.

  Here’s some of my work… if you’d like to see what I’m talking about:

  I was previously using ‘zone’ based autofocus, but somehow even when the squares were highlighted near my face, I would end up going fuzzy for seconds at a time.

  I then switched to FACE finder focus… or whatever it’s called. Now I get these quick moments of unfocusing.. where it makes my entire body look like it ebbs and inflates for a second. Here’s a shot of that happening:

  I’m at a level of videography where I would at LEAST like to avoid having dozens of shots messed up by my complete inability to choose the appropriate auto focus setting… or maybe this isn’t the right piece of equipment?
