Is there anyway to pull the video from a DVD, straight into Encore?

The reason I ask is because have several long (50+ mins) pieces that need to be put on DVD. The problem is that rendering these things out into one gigantic file is not feasible, so we’d have to break them up into a bunch of smaller pieces and link them all — which is cumbersome.

However, we can just go to our DVD+RW deck and record straight from the PC to that deck. So is there a way to get the video (I guess a VOB file) off that DVD and bring it into Encore?

    Any help is appreciated!

Considering the DVD is unencrypted, just copy and paste the files from the DVD to your harddrive. And rename the VOB files to MPEG. Once you do that, import the MPEG files into Encore.

    Aanarav,

Thanks, that worked. The only problem is that the video file is 16:9, an when I turn the vob file into an mpg file and import it, Encore is only reading it as 4:3. When I select the asset and go to File, “Interperet Footage” is grayed out.

Is there any way I can get this thing into 16:9?

    Thanks!
