    Ken,

Thanks for your post and this work around…I am on FCP 6.05 and would love access to the prores 422LT. I did the steps detailed in this post, and now see prores 422LT as an option in mpeg streamclip, but not in FCP. In FCP, I opened the log and transcode window and under the preference pane looked for the 422LT in the canon eos drop down menu but did not see the option (only see previous options: 422HQ/422, and no LT). Is there another way I should be navigating, or looking? Did I miss a step to activate this, to be able transcode to 422LT in FCP?

[i did clear my user settings and restart the computer, just in case]

My workflow involves footage shot on a Canon 5dii, hence looking at the EOS plug in area.

Thank you in advance for your insights!

    ~ Kala

Just in case anyone is interested: it also works with Premiere Pro CS4.

    Thanks Ken!

    – I have read the entire internet, and I am feeling a little bit bored, so I started to reply to interesting forum topics.

Would just like to add that this thread has helped me out a bunch as well.

Got ProRes codecs working with the CS6 version of Adobe Media Encoder now.

Only problem I had was that I didn’t have a QuickTime folder in my Library so I didn’t know where to put the component files. Turned out you can just make the folder yourself and it still works.

    Thanks a bunch.

I ran across this somewhere but haven’t tested it.

You can download a free 30-day trial of Final Cut Pro X from Apple’s website which installs the ProRes codecs.

The 30-day period doesn’t start until you open FCP X for the first time; however, the ProRes codecs are active and usable. So, in theory you could use the ProRes codecs forever, providing you never open FCP X.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I’m guessing Ken’s method would be frowned upon if you don’t already own a previous version of FCP. I haven’t looked at the ProRes license agreement, if there is one.

Wow. Maybe hope is on the way!

One question… for the second part, Tim Doug’s unpacker package, do I just need to install the one unpacker with the latest date on it?

    https://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/

    Thanks!

    Hi Jonnie and others,

Like you, I would like to install ProRes to use in PrPro 6.

I created a folder to park all those files on my drive, but the unpackager seems to have frozen in the manner displayed on the screen shot.

Then I opened up ProRes to see if I could drag any “package files” to that small rectangular display on the unpackager instructing me to “drag my packaging files”, but everything froze up, as in the attached image.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks! Matt Dubuque

    Hi there,

You say ProRes is working with Adobe Media Encoder CS6. Which codecs do you have? Do you have the Apple ProRess 422 (HQ)?

I have only been able to get Apple ProRes 422 (LT) and Apple ProRess 422 – HD so far.

I need Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) but can’t seem to get it.

Could you tell me where I can get the HQ codecs or possibly send me a copy of yours?

Any help here would be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks

    Regards

    David

I found this post very helpful despite the age. I was able to get the ProRES codec to work without having to install Final Cut, or other ProApps using the unpkg method and the codec update from the apple website. I documented the process on my blog: https://goo.gl/r0TqQA
