  • Getting shattered text to fall on floor?

Posted by Christopher Travis on July 12, 2012 at 3:29 pm

    Hello all,

I’m a total novice after effects user doing a bit of a feasibility study. Can someone tell me off it’s possible to do this:

I already have some text which gets shattered by a moving force with a very small radius. The force bounces around the screen taking out bits of the text as it goes. Now, this is supposed to be seen from a bird’s-eye view so it doesn’t make sense for the text to fall down off the bottom of the screen. What I need is for the pieces to fall back, in Z-space, and stop on the “floor”.

Any advice? I guess this means changing the direction of gravity and creating some sort of physical barrier but I have no idea how to do this.

    Thanks
    Chris

While you can move the camera perspective to show the shatter from above, Shatter does not respond to a boundary and the pieces will continue to fall.

You may be able to simulate what you want using a combination of shatter and a particle system like CC Particle World, or better yet Trapcode Particular.
