Getting… overwhelmed……… again…!
Okay, I know I am no After Effects Master, but I keep getting to that point where… I want to scream.
I love this site, and I love the tutorials, you guys are a god-send, and now you’re expecting the but…
but I see a cool, if not awesome tutorial, then I realize I need a plug-in, and that the plug-in always costs money. Though, it sounds like “everyone” should have these already, and I’m the kid with the Velcro shoes when everyone else has Nike’s. (that actually happened to me Freshman year of H.S., but I’ll delve into that with my therapist)
So, did a memo go out that I should have certain plug-ins for After-Effects? Are there plug-ins that everyone should have in their toolbox? Is there a list of all available plug-ins and what they do for you?
I do see the plug-ins out there, and it seems like there are some that may be awesome, and some that may be crap (like most Yahoo Widgets) How do I sort them?

The Trapcode Plugins by Red Giant Software (especially Trapcode Particular) are a great set to buy if you want to get started. But it also depends on what kind of effects you will be creating most often. Research different plugins and see which ones stand out to you, which ones you could use in a lot of your projects. As for the Red Giant Software plugins, often times other sites will be offering specials (like 50% off!) so be sure to do your research.
