  • Getting an OSX error message – Run out of System Memory

Posted by Dustin Bowser on August 8, 2014 at 7:59 pm

I’ve been working on a project for about 2 weeks that now seems to be giving me the error that my Mac has run out of System Memory. Was wondering if anyone had any clues as to what would be firing off that message now, considering the project has been fine until now.

    My specs —

    Premiere Pro CC 2014.0

    MacPro OSX 10.9.4
    Memory – 18GB Ram
Graphics – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285

    Thanks!

Normally that is plugin related. What if any 3rd party plugins do you have in the project?

BTW go into preferences and then memory. Change Optimize renderer for Performance to Memory. That will make it take far longer to export but should allow you to complete the project.

I think the only third party plugin I’ve used so far is Colorista. Does it matter that it isn’t used in the particular sequence I have open? Or is it just project wide.

It only matters if the sequence that has the plugin is on the timeline even in a tab your not currently working on. Make sure you close any other sequences off the timeline to free up ram.

    Hi Dustin,

How much memory do you have in your system? How big is the project file? Are you using a lot of Warp Stabilizer in the project per chance?
