  • Getting AE 7 to recognize more than 3GB of ram

Posted by Jon Walker on August 21, 2006 at 4:49 pm

Just installed AE7 on Quad 2.5GHZ G5 8GB RAM and it will only recognize 3. Is there a workaround or setting to change this or is that the max AE can use? Thanks in advance.

Here’s a link to an Apple technote on Final Cut Pro, the same would apply to after effects:

Maximum memory usage in Final Cut Pro HD is 2.5 GB

though it seems like we get 512 Mb more 😉

When 10.5 Leopard is here (and if Adobe catches up) we’ll be rid of that problem.

What happens if you have Windows XP Pro 64 bit?
