  • getting a QT export from FCP to work on PC

I’ve exported an 8-bit uncompressed QT movie from final cut that my PC doesn’t seem to understand. It recognizes the file type etc in ‘my computer’, but it won’t open in quicktime. any suggestions?

    1) It’s possible that updating the installed version of Quicktime on the PC might fix the issue.

    or

    2) You can install the AJA Kona or Blackmagic codecs on the PC without one of their video cards and that should work for you.

    or

    3) Export as ProRes, which can be played back (decoded) on any PC running a current version of Quicktime. You cannot write or record ProRes on the PC side, only play it back or edit to another format if you’re doing work on the file on that side.
