Just thought I would post this in case it helps someone else.

I kept getting general error every time I tried to render my timeline, or export using compressor.

I tried redering it in halves, but got the same error.

Eventually, I started to render it in small chunks, which worked for some of the timeline. Basically I kept doing this until I narrowed the timeline down into bits that would render, and bits that would not. In the parts that would not render, i kept rendering smaller and smaller chunks – process of elimination – until i found the – literally – few frames here and there that for some reason were corrupt. It was just a few frames in a few clips in certain places along the timeline. I just removed the frames and patched them up with alternate shots and now it all works.

It sure will. Thank you for posting this information. the “general error” is so useless but at least we have some realworld experience to refer others to, “Look for corrupt image files or movie files, no matter how difficult it might be to find them.”

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
