  • GeForce GTX 1080 & Vegas 17 = Slow Render

Posted by Norm Kaiser on June 23, 2020 at 11:21 pm

I know this type of question gets asked a lot, but I’m hoping for any ideas here.

    Here’s my system specs:

CPU: AMD FX 8120 – 8 Core Processor
GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition
    RAM: 16 GB
    OS: Windows 10 64 Bit
    Vegas: 17 Build 452

I go to OPTIONS…PREFERENCES…VIDEO and my GPU *is* selected.

I then go to do a render with one of the Magix AVC NVidia presets…and renders are disappointingly slow.

I go to Task Manger and only 40% of my CPU is being used, less than 50% of my RAM…and only 5% of my GPU!

    What’s going on???

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    Norm

Hi Norm! Slow renders indicate the work VP is having to do.
    Need to know:

    1] What are you rendering?
    2] Media Properties?
3] A list of the FXs you are using.
    4] Your drives?

    Please double check your:

You could check your nVidia driver date? When did you last Update? I use the Studio version NOT the Gamer. My card is GeForce RTX 2070 driver 441.66.

While you are at it, you might as well post a Comprehensive Screengrab of your VP Timeline.

Hi Norman, “I then go to do a render with one of the Magix AVC NVidia presets…and renders are disappointingly slow.”

    But slow compared to what?

If you do a CPU only, non nvenc render is it say ~ 3 times slower? If so then nvenc HW encoding is working ok.
