    Hello

I work at a Mac-Based post facility that uses FCP and Blackmagic video cards w/ HDLINK boxes to monitor out to HP Dreamcolor monitors. We are about to expand and buy a bunch of the new MacPro’s (if they ever come out 🙂 as well as Dreamcolor’s and HDSDI Scalers. I am the only person using Color but everyone else uses there HP’s & HDLINK’s to properly monitor while editing. I am new to using the Gefen scaler box and its the first time we have taken it out of the box for testing and I am hoping to get some help / advice.

Some rooms in the facility have experienced flickering when switching during the day between 23.98p, 1080i & SD so we purchased a GEFEN HDSDI>HDMI box for testing. Unfortunately, I am the one stuck with the testing today on a day when i need to use Color to CC!

Right off the bat I find the tech support from Gefen to be poor / limited as I find that updating firmware properly can only be down on PC with an RS-232 connector : ( Also I asked for some Pro Video help – i.e. it has a rather detailed menu / remote control system and setting all of this up leaves a lot to be answered from the manual.

Switching between 23.98, 59.94, SD, etc i am not sure what the proper procedures are AND on calibrating with the Dreamcolor I am not sure what the best practices are.

If anyone can point me in the right direction for help and/or advise on using this with my setup and specifically what equipment (especially after NABB) makes the most sense it would be greatly appreciated since we are about to make a big investment.

    thank you

    Sean
