Gamma shift in FCP 7 Effect?
Hey folks,
I’m adding a simple stock FCP wipe between a ProRes 4444 clip to a ProRes 422 (HQ) clip and as soon as the wipe effect begins my outgoing clip darkens by 10% or so. Arrgh.
I’m demoing sapphire (sigh) and using their wipe doesn’t mess with it at all.
Any idea what’s up and what I can do to negate the gamma shift with the stock effect? Wish I had the $1600 for sapphire, but not for a wipe!

I haven’t run into that exact problem but something similar. I would try R-Clicking on the clips and going to Item Properties > Format… and make sure the Alpha and Composit is the same for both clips.

If the Alpha Channels settings fro both are the same, the next step I’d try, is to make both clips the exact same codec. And just for the sake of experiment, export both into another Codec, e.g. Animation or Uncompressed10-Bit, and see, if it still happening then.
