We have a g5 dual 2.5 and just upgraded to universal binary 5.1.2. None of the FCP studio apps will open when both Lacie FW800 PCI cards are in their slots. if I remove one, everything works fine. If both are installed, the apps bounce and crash immediately. I have swapped slots and cards and its definitely a 2 cards at the same time problem. I called Apple and they said that this “does indeed sound like a Bug with 5.1.2 and G5”. I responded that I have never seen this on any forum. Anyone have this problem? Is anyone running a g5 dual 2.5 with 2 Lacie FW800 cards and 5.1.2 successfully? Or any other 2 PCI FW800 cards successfully on a G5? FYI, I am running 2 PCIx fw800 cards on our Mac Pro tower successfully, as I’m sure a lot of you are.

Is it just a Final Cut issue? Will any other programs run successfully with both cards installed?
Also, call LaCie and see if they have any insights/fixes to the problem.

    Good luck,

All my other apps (AE, CS1, etc.) work just fine. Just 5.1.2 studio wont run. Called Lacie, they agree with apple that its an FCP 5.1.2 bug and that they don’t have any firmware patches for such a bug. I just can’t believe that no one but me has this problem?

5.1.2 does seem to be an upgrade that’s creating a lot of unique problems for people. I upgraded two weeks ago (grudgingly) and I’m having overall system speed issues and times when the computer just doesn’t boot up.
Just Apple’s way of making us all feel like individuals, I guess.
