I’m a Mac newbie. Just bought a MacBookPro to edit Final Cut Studio.
I have also bought a g RAID 2 FW external drive for editing, capturing video.

Does anyone here have one? How is it installed to the Mac?
The G-Tech site says it’s pretty strightforward, but just want
to check with other users. Do I need to “partition” the drive?
This is the part that worries me, I don’t know how to do that.

Can someone help, advise, on how to install a GRaid2 FW drive
    to MacBook Pro?
    thank you.

Just connect it to your FW800 port and turn it on.

It will mount right up on your desktop, though you should give it a clean erase from your system.

Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

Select the G-RAID Drive. Select Erase. Select Mac OS Extended, NOT journaled. Select OK. Select OK again when it says you’re about to erase everything.

We were using a brand new G-RAID2 1000 last week, but stopped using it after finding performance issue with a second FW800 drive attached to it. Also the speed on the G-RAID2 was slower than the original G-RAID 500 and 800 that we also run.

As long as you run it by itself, you should be fine.

What does it mean “give it a clean erase from your system?”
    Please explain.
    Thanks.
