  • G-RAID Mini enclosure change?

    Hi all,

I have the old bus powered G-RAID mini that takes either USB 2 or Firewire 800. To use it with a newer mac I’ve powered it externally and used it with a Firewire to thunderbolt adapter. But once you get used to editing off a SSD then that connection is just pants.

I wanted to know if someone has knowledge or experience of taking out the HDD from a G-RAID mini and putting it in a USB 3 enclosure? I have no problem powering the enclosure externally, my only concerns are that the size of drive, and the fan under it worry me that I’ll break something. Would anyone kindly suggest the appropriate enclosure if they know of one and if the drive swap is possible in the first place? Thanks.

(PS: I’m a poor man so buying the newer G-RAID mini that comes with USB 3 is a little tough, plus I don’t want to stop using a drive just because its slow)
