  • G-Raid 500GB Drive not showing up on desktop anymore

Posted by Stevec on July 1, 2006 at 9:22 am

This morning all three of my 500GB G-raid were showing up on the desktop. I had to reboot and now my third one is not there.

It shows up in disk utility and shows that it is mounted, but I can’t access it from anywhere. It doesn’t look the same as the other 2 G-Raids. It looks like a white sheet of paper with a dogear.

Where I verify the drive and the volume they are fine and when I try to repair the permissions it says that there is nothing to repair.

It doesn’t seem like the switch problem that has been troubleing some of these drives.

Any suggestion on where to start.

My IT department does not know that much about MAC’s.

    Thanks

[stevec] “Any suggestion on where to start.”

run Disk Warrior on it and let it repair it. Sounds like a bad shutdown routine on all three drives somehow occured. When a drive doesn’t display the correct icon anymore, that usually an indication of something internally got a bit “scrambled.”

I knew I should have come here first, instead of going to the G-Tech forum.

Thanks Walter, I’ll try running Disk Warrior next week.

Tried running Disk Warrior from the Mac Haddrive and got the following results.

“DiskWarrior has successfully built a new directory for the disk named “G-RAID.” the directory cannot replace the original directory due to a MAC OS services failure.

“Try rebuilding again. If the problem persists, please restart from the DiskWarrior CD and then try rebuilding again.”
All file and folder dat was easily located.

The problem is I can’t boot off the CD, because it is an older version of DiskWarrior and will not boot Tiger.

We are trying to get an new version of DiskWarrior, but could use some other suggestions until. then.

    Thanks
