FWIW – Kona3 7.0 drivers
I was trying out the new drive on my system, FCP 6xx and OS 10.5.x but latest of those versions. One project that I was working on started to give me “Failed to Render” errors on some effects, Smoothcam and other motion effects. These had render fine last week but the error came up when I opened the project today. These were already rendered and then would not render again.
Since I didn’t have to run this drive I went back to 6.0.3 and all is fine. I may try the NND version to see if that helps.
Just sharing.

One of my editors just told me that his system has been giving him problems since we did the Ver 7 driver update. He is running FCP 6 on a MacPro with Kona 3. He has been seeing dropped frame errors and had layoffs be 1 frame off to HDCAM. I’m going to roll him back and see what happens.

remember that installing a new driver blast away all of your prefs, so things like deck settings often have to be modified.
Did the install turn back on the “view dropped frames” warning that had been turned off, or that all of the render settings need to be checked.
just a thought – but the 7.0 driver was intended for FCP7 not FCP6 Aja’s drivers numbers tend to correspond to the FCP version they were designed for.

But AJA Kona 7 drivers also support FCP 6 according to their website.

I, too, am using FCP7 with an AJA Kona 3 card using version 7.0 drivers.
There are some issues that need to be worked out. In our case, its an issue with 1440×1080 video. If I have the VANC option checked, my video will shift down about 20-30 lines and play perfectly. If I uncheck the VANC option, the video is perfectly framed but now my audio skips terribly and slows down.
This is a MAJOR issue for us in our workflow. This occurs under driver versions 6.5 and 7.0 (standard and NDD versions).
