FW800 RAID for FCP X Workflow Advice
Hi Guys, first post, long time lurker. Not sure if this is the right section. I need some serious workflow help and was hoping to get some input from the PROs.
I have been editing with Final Cut Express the past couple of years for my weekly video podcast at https://mmanuts.com. We currently edit AVCHD 1080 content that releases in two web formats, 720p Youtube and 640×360 itunes.
I just purchased a new i7 iMAC 27″ and am looking to hang some RAID off the FW800 port for editing. Was looking at this 4bay from OWC as an option https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/RAID/Desktop/
Now on to my questions:
Once making the switch to Final Cut PROX I assume ProRes422 or ProRes422 LT should be sufficient for my needs?
Was thinking RAID5 or should I be looking at RAID10 instead?
IS FW800 fast enough for my workflow? Right now its a single camera, may add one or two more angles to the show in the near future.
Lastly, should I be waiting for Thunderbolt enclosures even though they seem such a distance away?
