    Hi –
    Working on a project shot on a Canon 5DMKII at 24 frames, 1920 X 1080, 1080p.

My render format is Apple ProRes 4444.

When I play back the footage on Final Cut, it becomes “fuzzy,” slightly blurry.
However, once I stop it completely, it goes back to full resolution.
This problem persists once I export the project.

Any ideas of what the issue is?

    Thanks,
    Nick.

Since you’re working in 444, FCPX is up sampling your footage to a much higher bandwidth on the fly.

I would use normal PriRes for this, also choosing to transcode your footage will help with performance.

I take it you are using the h264s?

    Yup. Working H264.

I am on a MBP with 2.8GHZ and 8GB RAM.

Will transcoding my footage result in quality loss when I’m exporting for the final product?

    No. You’ll be fine.
