  • Fuzzy full screen playback of HD videos on vimeo.

    Hi everybody,

Recently I noticed that when I watch my HD videos Vimeo, the playback is very fuzzy. They are the same videos I watched only days ago that looked clear as can be. I thought the problem could be my videos, but I watched other people’s videos, ones I previously knew played crystal clear in Full Screen and got the same result, fuzzy video.

I’m using the same computer I always have and have never had this issue before. I’m afraid that the videos I uploading could be streaming this way to others which would be a huge problem for my business.

The video footage I shoot is shot from a Canon 7D at 24p in 1980x1080i. I convert the files to .avi using cineform and edit them in Vegas 8.0. I render the files at mpeg4. I also noticed that there is no quality loss when I use full screen mode on YouTube or play the file itself on my own computer.

One other note, I did try installing a lossless codec for video conversion thinking it could give me improved results (unnecessary and stupid I know). I have since deleted the codec but still have the same results.

PLEASE HELP. Thank you so much in advance!!

Have you tried a different monitor/computer? Perhaps attach a link to a few videos that you see as fuzzy and let us see how they show up to us. Is anything else showing fuzzy?

I thought that Vimeo only keeps HD footage for a week and then converts it to SD unless you open a paid account with them? This would explain once clear video getting fuzzy.

Thank you both for your responses.

I have a paid account and it is not due to be paid again for several months.

I haven’t tried it on any computers and do not have a spare monitor handy. I don’t think it’s the monitor anyways though because I can view other videos in full screen and the playback is not fuzzy at all.

Here are a few links to my vimeo videos:

Thank you again for any help anyone may be able to offer me.

I believe you get one HD file a week (that stays HD) without buying a plus account.

Those videos look fine to me in full screen mode. Nothing fuzzy about ’em.
