Full resolution rendering quality “BEST” = low render speed (low CPU-Usage) ???
Posted by Marc Knieb on November 20, 2015 at 8:42 amHey guys,
I am rendering Videos für Youtube… Bodybuilding color graded content.
Project Settings:
If I render this stuff with “good” my cpu works really well and fast… (60-80% Usage) and 15 Minutes…
If I render the same clip with “Best” my cpu works bad… (10-20% usage) and 80 Minutes….
Cpu: i7 5820k, Overclocked to 4,4 Ghz.
Where is the problem?
Thank you

November 21, 2015 at 12:29 amThere is no problem Marc, simply have the rendering quality set to “Good”
at all times. You need nothing more than that.Steve Rhoden (Cow Leader)

November 23, 2015 at 2:14 pmEvidently the part of the encoding that optimizes quality is single threaded. It is not able to use more than one core, so it can’t use 100% of your multicore CPU.

November 24, 2015 at 10:07 pmI would like to know more about your source material, and the plugins in use. The Best setting is multithread optimized, it could be something in the render chain that is limiting your render performance. Could be the way the GoPro format and magic bullet are being handled. However, I did not see plugins in use at least on the point where the cursor was.
You could also try rendering to XDCAM-EX.MXF and upload that directly to YouTube.
I would try building a sample project where you compare source media in XDCAM-EX, HDCAM-SR, or Cineform.avi, then render to Sony AVC “internet 1920×1080-30p” around 16MB/s profile, or XDCAM-EX.mxf. Do this in CPU only mode, unless you have a 290X or better AMD GPU.

November 27, 2015 at 5:37 pmHI Aaron,
i am recording with my go pro in 4k and render it to 1080p for youtube.
Its color graded with magic bullet and sharped with Newblue Totalfx… my source material is flat.
I am current rendering in mp4 sony media codec… 30 mbits, 1080p, cpu only… i have a GTX980 ti… but i use only my cpu…
10 minutes rendering 90 minutes??? Onyl grading and sharped???? CPU only 30-40%
