I have used Vegas 3.0 since it came out many years ago and have been creating literally thousands of videos with that product. It definitely was worth the investment, but it’s time for me to check out what I have been missing all of these years. So I purchased a brand new powerful computer and I have a trail version of 10.0 active as I type this. I have one week to demo this before I need to return the computer if it doesn’t work out.

Okay, so I have worked with 10.0 for the past few hours to see what it has that 3.0 doesn’t. I started with the Stabilize Media option since I have some old VHS tapes where the playback will vibrate when white backgrounds are in the picture (I’m sure the VHS old-timers will know what I am referring to). First thing I noticed is the degradation in overall picture quality (even in the areas that did not vibrate). Okay, so I thought I would simply use the original video and edit in the stabilized version of the video where the vibration had been occurring (basically piecing together the original and stabilized video to have the best of both worlds). But that’s when I noticed that the stabilizer also alters the screen size of the video and it looks veryy apparent where I edited in the stabilized segments. After hours of testing and not getting the desired results, I think it is time to present it to the experts.

Along with how to best use the stabilizer option, I would be interested in knowing what other features Vegas users are taking advantage of in 10.0 that I do not have in 3.0.

    Thanks in advance.

All the new features from Vegas Movie Studio 10 are described here:

But realise that Movie Studio is the consument version of Vegas. Vefas Pro is now at version 9 and has many more options then the Movie Studio version. Check here for the differences:

Thanks for the links. I had no idea there was a PRO version that was different, so it is definitely worth me looking into. I was happy to see how easy it was for me to start working with 10.0. I guess after working with 2.0 and 3.0 for 10 years straight, I knew the basics. I wonder if Vegas PRO 9 will be as easy to jump in.

A quick poll: What does everyone else prefer: 10.0 or 9.0 PRO? Reasons why? I think customer feedback will be a huge help to me.
