From 1440x 1080 back to 1080×1920. How?
Hello everyone,
I am a student of a Documentary film course. I’m currently working on my final project, Contatto the story of an Italian blind sculptor. I am toward the end of the editing and few days ago I noticed that the my timeline settings are not full HD 1080×1920. The footage has been imported on the timeline shrinked down according to the proportion of the image. I didn’t noticed and here I am with a lower resolution than the one I had been shooting at.The original file is still 1080×1920 but if I change the timeline settings it distorts the image squishing it at the sides.
So. my thought was, disconnect all the media, change the time line settings and reconnect the media. It didn’t work. Here it is how I I did it:
– save a copy and close
– disconnect the hard drive and open the FCP file
– Save and close
– Open change settings and reconnect.If you have any suggestions I would be grateful!!

Open new sequence with correct codec and frame size (1920 x 1080). Copy paste the old timeline in. Highlight all clips> remove attributes>Basic motion. This resets the distort tab and providing all your source footage is indeed 1920x 1080 it will correct the distortion you are seeing.
Caution: it will remove any reframe or zooms into frames as basic motion also includes this sort of framing. Make sure you only select clips and not title or other elements that might have resize or reposition info in the basic motion tab.
No need to disconnect or reconnect.
